Ward S. Johnson

October 20, 1952 - July 15, 2008

Survived by his mother Mildred Stewart and Henry Andrew Johnson, brother of Bryan Andrew Johnson. Born on October 20, 1952 in New Orleans, LA. Children Bryan R. Johnson, Lindsay A. Johnson, Katie Johnson, Melissa Johnson.

Ward S. Johnson has been an active pioneer in the entertainment community since the early 60's. Born and raised in New Orleans, he developed his musical skills as drummer and lead vocalist, eventually branching out to technical coordinator and producer with entertainment media.

Ward moved to Cincinnati in the early 80's after touring with such prestigious groups as, The Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Neville Brothers, Dr. John, and many more international stars. Ward's influence with Cincinnati's musical entertainment development processes covered many genera's from hip-hop, r&b, gospel, alternative, and country.

CSIPC, Ward's production company, provided audiovisual support for many clients such as P&G, GE, United Way, American Lung Association, FACS Group, Jewish Federation, and both the Republican and Democratic parties. Ward was a tremendous talent and will be sorely missed.

 

Kathy Dahl Lodrigues

April 25, 1952 - June 17, 2009

Formerly of New Orleans, Kathy died at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Memorial.

She was born in Oelwein, Iowa, to June and John Dahl where she lived until 1960. She then moved to Des Moines until 1970, then moved to New Orleans, and then returned home to Des Moines after the Katrina disaster in 2005.

She was an accomplished LPN nurse, a Professional Blues Vocalist, songwriter, musician and artist. Kathleen was beloved by all that knew her; generous, kind and selfless.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Gabriel Wood of LA; daughter, Kaitlin Dahl of LA; step-daughters, Ashleigh, Courtnie, and Bethany, brothers, Mike and Neal Dahl of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Diane Dahl of Des Moines, IA, Denise Dahl of VA, and Teri Dahl of Des Moines, IA; sister in laws, Deirdre, and Lolita; brother in law, Regal; grandchildren, Miyah and Kelsey; step-grandchildren, Chase, Conner, Madison, Christian, Tristen, Demere, Trinity, Mark Jr., Justin and Emily; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and dear friend Regina. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Patrick Dahl and brother in law, Joseph Lodrigues.

 

Mary Lyn Orth (M.L.)

June 16, 1953 - July 15, 2009

M.L. passed away at the McGraw Hospice Center after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Gainesville, Florida on and is survived by her mother, Marilyn; brother, Jimbo (Jeanne); and uncle and aunt, Chal and Nancy Fowler.

She is preceded in death by her father, The Reverend James B. Orth. She was a talented musician and played drums in several bands across the United States and Canada, from Nashville to the North Pole.

She was employed by the Alachua county school system at the time of her death.

 

Stacy Rowles

September 11, 1954 - October 27, 2009

Jazz trumpeter, fluegelhorn player and singer. Stacy Rowles, who had been active on the Los Angeles jazz scene since the 1980s, died at her home in Burbank, Calif. She was 54. The cause was complications from a car accident on October 13, said her sister, Stephanie Rowles.
The daughter of the jazz pianist and composer Jimmy Rowles. She played restful, melodic solos with a warm tone and sang in a wise, honest voice, shy but swinging.
Ms. Rowles made her name partly in the company of her father, with whom she often played until shortly before his death in 1996. The albums they made together included Mr. Rowles’s “I’m Glad There Is You”; “Me and the Moon” and “Looking Back,” under the leadership of both Rowleses; and “Tell It Like It Is,” her only album as a leader, released in 1984.
On her own, Ms. Rowles also played regularly in several all-female jazz groups, including the Jazz Birds and Maiden Voyage, in both of which she played alongside the trumpeter Betty O’Hara, and the European band Witchcraft, with which she had toured since 2002.

In addition to her sister, of Cambria, California, she is survived by her brother, Gary, of Lebanon, Oregon.

 


Rhonda Jones

July 25, 1947 - July 28, 2010

"Ronni" Passed away quietly at the age of 63 years after a short illness with brain cancer. She will be greatly missed by staff and customers of Jones the Jeweler, her family business.

Ronni was an avid boater who also volunteered for more than 25 years to the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron both locally and nationally, taking courses, and making many friends. As a GLBA member, she made many friends and customers. She will be sadly missed by all.

Ronni will be remembered with love by her partner of 30 years, Pam.

She is also survived by her sister, Lynda (Bryan), nephews Philip (Nicole), Joel (Laina) and their families.

Memorial service was held at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd. North Vancouver, BC on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 2:00pm.
